 What are the ideal clothes for the street race? Here are tips on the best clothes, according to the temperature you will face. If you ask any runner, he will tell you that the best time to run is the mild fall and spring months when it’s neither too hot nor too cold. And he doesn’t need to wear a lot of clothes or feel like taking them off. On those balmy days, just a t-shirt and leggings or shorts and you can run miles comfortably.

But even when the temperature looks great, there are still other variables that interfere with how we’re going to feel running. Factors such as humidity, wind, and rain make you stressed about what to wear before you even leave the house. This concern can even multiply if your goal is to participate in races in other parts of the world. The climate is quite different from ours, with negative temperatures or very low air humidity, so let’s try to help you define what to wear, according to the climate in which you find yourself.

What To Wear In Each Temperature Range?

First of all, remember that your body will heat up quickly as soon as you start running. So generally, dress for a temperature equivalent to about 10 degrees warmer. The goal is that you don’t feel entirely comfortable when you go out into the street at first, that you feel a little cold, to begin with. However, when it’s windy or raining, then dress for approximately 5 degrees cooler.  Wind against your body or wet clothing will make you feel colder quickly.

Assessing The Race Type:

Also, evaluate the type of race you will be running. If you’re running a marathon, you might be talking about 15 to 30 kilometers of running. This can take you to different cities, times, and, consequently, different temperatures and climates. It may not rain at the starting point, but at the finish line, for example. Also, calculate how long you will be gone. If the time is unlikely to change in a half-hour run, the same is not valid for longer runs.

If you’re running in summer, for example, remember that the day gets warmer until the early hours of the afternoon. It gets cooler as night falls, and schedule accordingly.

  • Temperature above 20°C;
  • Temperature between 15ºC and 20ºC;
  • Temperature between 10ºC and 15ºC;
  • Temperature between 5ºC and 10ºC;
  • Temperature between -1ºC and 5ºC;
  • Temperature between -6ºC and -1ºC;
