What equipment do you need to invest in playing hockey for beginners?
When you know the rules and ways of playing hockey that you have the ability to shoot or dribble the ball. You won’t start playing the game once you have your Ritual Hockey equipment. Playing field hockey you have certain equipment to use like using guards to protect you in the game. The equipment you need will differ in what role you are playing. But when you don’t have a certain position that you like to play you have to get the basic equipment.
Hockey stick
You can the hockey stick as a weapon on the battlefield. After you have chosen the stick you have to learn how to use it and be comfortable. As you will be using it for a long time. Getting the right hockey stick is important as you have to get the right size for your height.
Shoes
The type of shoes you will be wearing will depend on the type of surfaces you have to play with. When you play on a grass field then you have to use cleats. The soles have big studs but it gives you a good grip, faster transition, and cuts. But when you play on an artificial turf you have to get turf shoes that has smaller studs. These are good for gripping on the artificial turf. But when you are playing indoors, you can wear court shoes to have a good grip on smooth surfaces.
Mouthguard
In every game, it is a non-contact sport but wearing a mouthguard is compulsory during the game. The function is to protect from any concussion when there is a collision with the players or the ball.
Shin guards
Using the shin guards in the game is not the same in soccer. The shin guards used in field hockey need to cover the whole ankle of the player to the bottom of the knee caps. When you play field hockey, it needs to take all the beating from the sticks and balls. And you have to invest in getting a good pair of shin guards.
Rash guards and socks
Socks are usual to wear in the game. When you avoid using socks then you have to expect that you will get blisters after the game. And wearing rash guards will be optional. You have to wear it under the shin guards and it protects your shin from getting rubbed to the shin guards.
Stick bag
The bag will be optional but they are convenient to use when you have it because you can now carry all the sticks.
Electrical tape
It is useful because it can protect your sticks from getting dents, tears, and wear. When you are a beginner you have to tape the bottom of your stick to help you in stopping the ball.
Grip
When you regularly use your hockey stick, the grip on your stick will wear off easily. It is common since you are using it every day. You have to buy and change it once you play field hockey.
